THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She concentrates a large portion of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the legal realm as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
