Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
