Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the legal realm since she was actively a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to every client's need.
