THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid court processes and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach for every client's need.
